Design & Procurement
Our team of artisans takes premium care of all the interior details. After theater drawings are complete and approved, we begin production on all necessary project items. They include the interior fabrication and build-out, acoustics, theater seating, automation, and procurement of all electronics needed for a successful project.

Architectural and interior evaluation and design are essential in any project. Whether a plan review for a new structure or a job-walk of an existing site, this early understanding of the theater project and its details will determine a host of decisions down the line.
Audio and Video
Cinema electronics are the heart of fine theaters. From audio and video to full ‘smart ‘automation, it is an ongoing focus to provide state-of-the-art technology that accurately and appropriately reflects the level of the client’s expectations and best satisfies the finished project.
Within the Audio / Video industry, there are several standards by which we design cinema sound and image quality. The following associations provide our guidelines and certifications for performing our public and private cinemas to maintain these high standards.
DOLBY: Dolby Laboratories Inc. Founded by Ray Dolby in 1965; Created technology for audio noise reduction, encoding, and compression. Dolby currently licenses its technologies to consumer electronics manufacturers.
THX: Founded by George Lucas in 1983 and named after its developer Tomlinson Holman (X stands for a crossover), THX is a high-fidelity audio and video reproduction standard used for commercial cinemas, screening rooms, and home theaters.
ISF: Founded by Joe Kane in 1994, the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF), dedicated to quality review of new products, training, and certification in color rendition and ISF technical licensing.
Theater Interiors
Unique to the Audio/Video industry, Innovative Theatres provide complete in-house interior design, or in collaboration with your design team, for all commercial and residential theater projects. This includes initial concept and space planning, custom theater seating, millwork, acoustics, and finish accessories.
Acoustics
Custom-designed room acoustics are an integral element of each project. We craft the acoustics into each theater’s interiors design; properly designed acoustics can reduce the transmission of theater sound to adjacent areas and shape the theater’s sound quality to optimize the cinema sound’s overall performance.
Engineering
Developing well-performing, multi-trade electronics systems for residences and commercial venues requires a broad understanding of the diverse trades and technologies involved. Our engineering team designs and integrates automation, Lighting, Interior & exterior audio/video, communications, and security functions into cohesive and efficient ‘tech’ systems.

This private theater was designed to offer a luxurious and immersive environment that blends traditional design influences with timeless sophistication. The goal was to create a space that feels elegant and refined—without the excessive ornamentation often found in similar styles. Every detail reflects a commitment to high performance, premium materials, and exceptional craftsmanship.
Located in Westlake Village, the theater features rich, layered wood finishes, a custom hidden door, and hand-cast chevron accents illuminated with fiberoptic lighting. The design carefully balances visual impact with subtle elegance.

Adjacent to the theater is a pool table entertainment area that offers a relaxed space for guests to unwind. This area also includes direct access to a private balcony, seamlessly blending indoor entertainment with outdoor enjoyment.
To ensure outstanding acoustics, the ceiling is equipped with radial-patterned acoustic panels that enhance sound clarity and block noise from reaching other parts of the house.

This sophisticated smart home in Encino, CA was built around the idea of merging seamless automation with refined interior design. While every aspect of the home reflects cutting-edge technology and intuitive control, the true centerpiece of the project is the custom 7.2 surround sound home theater—a space where performance and design come together in stunning harmony.
The theater was thoughtfully designed to deliver a fully immersive cinematic experience while maintaining a chic and stylish atmosphere. An extra-large projection screen anchors the room, enhancing both visual impact and viewing enjoyment. The acoustically tuned space features 7.2 surround sound with precision speaker placement, delivering crystal-clear dialogue, deep bass, and a dynamic soundstage that rivals commercial cinemas.
Design-wise, the theater showcases a modern, boutique-inspired aesthetic with rich, moody tones, layered textures, and ambient lighting that can be controlled via Control4 smart keypads. The color palette features a refined mix of deep charcoals, matte blacks, and warm metallic accents, creating a luxurious and comfortable viewing environment. Chic, upholstered wall panels not only elevate the look but also enhance sound performance through acoustic absorption.
Comfort was just as important as performance. Custom seating upholstered in plush designer fabrics was selected for both style and ergonomic support, allowing for extended movie nights without compromise. Integrated LED step lighting and adjustable scene settings make it easy to transition between movie mode, intermission, or ambient lounge lighting.
Beyond the theater, the home includes a fully integrated Control4 OS4 system managing everything from HVAC, lighting, motorized shades, pool, security, and entry control, all supported by a high-performance Ubiquiti wired and wireless network.

The Moroccan Style Theatre

Tucked inside a luxury residence in Studio City, this stunning private theater transports guests into a world of rich textures, ornate details, and immersive audiovisual performance. Aptly named The Moroccan Style Theatre, this space blends old-world charm with state-of-the-art technology to create an unforgettable home cinema experience.
The design draws direct inspiration from traditional Moroccan interiors, featuring oversized, plush couches in deep jewel tones—perfect for sinking into during long movie marathons. The seating arrangement is both intimate and expansive, inviting relaxation and conversation while maintaining perfect sightlines to the extra-large projection screen that dominates the front wall.
Above, a gold-plated ceiling adds a dramatic, regal touch, catching ambient light and reflecting a warm, luxurious glow throughout the room. Suspended from the ceiling are handcrafted Moroccan light fixtures, each piece casting intricate shadows across the space and enhancing the room's exotic ambiance. These design elements combine to create a space that feels both opulent and deeply personal.
But this theater isn’t just about aesthetics—it's a technological powerhouse. A fully integrated 7.2 surround sound system delivers high-fidelity audio, carefully calibrated to the room’s dimensions for crystal-clear dialogue and immersive soundscapes. The room is acoustically treated with discreet, strategically placed panels, ensuring optimal performance while preserving the design integrity.

Tucked within a Vintage Villa along Beverly Hills’ tree-lined Maple Drive, this classically elegant private cinema offers a new life to a forgotten underground room.A small private staircase leading from the home’s kitchen to a dimly lit room. A room with low ceilings and whose sole purpose was to store forgotten objects.Innovative Theatres saw the opportunity to create an area, a home theatre that the entire family and friends could use and enjoy.We carefully designed a platformed seating area, lightly scaled millwork, and acoustical wall systems to create this elegant and well-functioning family theatre—all without visually crowding the room’s appearance. We addressed the theatre lighting with overhead micro spots and continuous perimeter up-lighting built into the custom wood cornice molding.

Nestled within an elegant Newport residence, The Red Velvet Theatre offers a lavish and immersive cinematic experience that combines classic sophistication with cutting-edge technology. Designed to evoke the grandeur of traditional movie palaces, this private theater features rich red velvet accents that create a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for film enthusiasts and casual viewers alike.
The space is anchored by oversized, plush couches upholstered in sumptuous fabrics, providing ample seating with ultimate comfort. Black trim details throughout the room add a sleek, contemporary contrast that enhances the theater’s dramatic flair and visual depth.
Dominating the room is a large projection screen that delivers crystal-clear images with stunning clarity and scale. The theater’s acoustic design is expertly crafted to optimize sound quality, featuring strategically placed sound-absorbing panels and materials that minimize echoes and enhance audio precision.
At the heart of the entertainment system is a state-of-the-art 11.2 surround sound setup, meticulously calibrated to fill the room with immersive, theater-quality audio—from crisp dialogue to deep, resonant bass. At the center of the space is a massive projection screen, concealed behind an elegant automated curtain that opens with theatrical flair at the start of every viewing. This dramatic reveal sets the tone for a truly elevated movie experience.
The theater features custom-designed theater chairs, upholstered for both luxury and long-lasting comfort. These seats are arranged for optimal sightlines and are complemented by finely crafted wood trim details that bring warmth and sophistication to the room’s overall design.
Soft LED light strips are integrated throughout the space—along pathways, beneath trim, and around ceiling coves—offering adjustable ambient lighting that enhances the visual mood without distracting from the screen.
